Week 4 Narratives part 2

Today, we started class with check homework that the teacher asked we to do. My answers are correct but not at all. I felt not good today because of something in the morning when i'm on the way to my university. So it made me feel so bad. I tried to focus at my study but my head is so hurt.

But i felt good when my friends are take care of me. I felt enjoy my class more and more. Okay, today we learned about "Secrets" part 2. Before that, I want to share my opinion about this story.

My opinion about this story!!

I feel sorry for Kylie because she is left out from her mother and Philip. That made she was lonely.

I dislike Kylie's mother because she didn't care about Kylie. She care her new hasband more that Kylie.

I dislike Philip because he hits Kylie.

Okay next, I will tell you about summary of the story past 2.

Kylie watches the hen sitting on ten eggs. She takes the lid off the well. She starts to go down the well with her photo album every day. She watches Philip and her mothe and wonder why her father is not with them. Someday Philip found her in the well. Philip discovers her in the well and hits her. Ktlie throws the chicken down the well. Kylie hits the hen and throws it down the well. She choose one special photo which makes her feel good and her cuts off her head off from the special photo and throws it aways.

Discussing the story's symbols!!

the eggs    refers to the secret.
the well     refers to loneliness and sadness.
the photo  refers to the good memory that can't                         happen again.
Kylie's cutting of the photo refers to dark side of                                               Kylie.

I thought I did not like it. It is sad for the separation of families. The new family also abandoned adorable children alone in the world who are innocent will be grayed out until finally it becomes black. Kylie is one example At first, it may be just loneliness. But it will bring a bad idea to become aggressive and violent in the end.

Next week i have EXAM!!!!

Week 3 Narratives

What is Narratives?

Narrative: the broadest sense is: anything told or recounted; more narrowly, something told or recounted in the form of a story; account; tale.

Purpose: A narrative tells a story, often from the perspective of the writer.

First, teacher told us to read the secrets's wheel and hold on the dotted lines cross at various levels to define him. Then draw a line along the dotted lines that we cross it. Then go find someone who has the same shape and we talk about our experiences in the cross down. It's a little tricky because we want people to have the shape of the patch exactly we do not have perfect but close only.

After that, we began to read a narratives that teachers bring to us and starting to found recount.

Credit : Tim Winton

Who?    : Kylie, Kylie's mother, Philip, Kylie's father
What?   : Kylie found an egg in the yard and she kept               it as a secret.
Where? : The back of new house, The yard

Summary : Kylie move to the new house. She found an egg in the yard and she kept it as a secret. By then her mother and Philip were inside. She heard them arguing and wished she still lived with her father.

"Secrets" by Tim Winton is about a young girl called Kylie who feels inadequate and lonely by her mother's lack of care and love and the missing father figure in her life. Kylie is having trouble dealing with her parents break up, she doesn't know why her dad has left, it was something she wasn't allowed to know so she feels alone, confused and unhappy, she also has to learn to accept the fact that another man has taken her dads place and that person is Philip. "Mum and Philip laughed or shouted and reminded her that Dad didn't live with them anymore", she doesn't really want to think of her dad gone. Kylie is constantly looking at her photo albums; she looks for her dad but can never find him because he is always the one that takes the photos, which shows that he showed some interest and attention towards Kylie which made her feel special. Compared to Philip, she missed her father even more. Philip hits and abuses her and doesn't even know she exists. Kylie thinks Philip is a joke and doesn't like him and have any respect for him. She is rebellious towards Philip and disobeys him by gong down the well even though he told her not to. Kylie does not understand why Philip is replacing her father.

Finally, teacher asked me to doing exercise with my partner.

Exercise

Kylie feels left out from her mother and Philip's activities. She becomes interested in the chickens in the yard. Somehow her secret helps her to feel less lonely. She finds a second egg and then finds out where others are being laid by an unhealthy-looking hen. When her mother and Philip leave haer alone so she sits on the fence and shares her secret with the hen. Some afternoons she sits out under the gravevines with her photo album. She thinks about her fathe that always out of the picture because he always taking photos for her, that's why she always like to find him in the pictures.

Hello, I am finally back to write this block again. But now a study is A Discourse Approach in Reading. Wow!! So excited to start a new lesson. I'm still learning with the teacher, but the new study. The rule in the study were still the same. We talked about details of course syllabus. Now let see what I have learned today.

After that the teacher asked me to doing exercise. It is easy to me just found when?,who?,what?,where?,action verbs/past tense and specific participants.

exercise 1 : Our trip to the Blue Mountain

Our trip to the Blue Mountain
OrientationOn Friday we went to the Blue Mountains. We stayed at David and Della’s house. It has a big garden with lots of colourful flowers and a tennis court.
EventsOn Saturday we saw the Three Sisters and went on the scenic railway. It was scary. Then, Mummy and I went shopping with Della. We went to some antique shops and I tried on some old hats.
On Sunday we went on the Scenic Skyway and it rocked. We saw cockatoos having a shower.
ReorientationIn the afternoon we went home.

exercise 2 : My Grandpa’s Funeral in Toraja

My Grandpa’s Funeral in Toraja

Last month my family and I went to Toraja to attend Grandpa’s funeral. It was my first time to go to such a ceremony. We gathered there with our kin in the ceremony.
Overall, the ceremony was quite elaborate. It took about a week. Several days before the ceremony was done, grandpa’s body was kept in a series of houses arranged in a circular row around an open field called tongkonan. His corpse was dressed in a fine wearing.
The funeral was performed in two phases. First, we slaughtered the pigs and buffaloes, and then moved the corpse to face north. In this ceremony we wore black clothes. After that, the corpse was placed in a sandal wood coffin. Then, it was brought out of the house and placed on an open platform beneath the granary. Meanwhile, my uncle, my brother, and I prepared the wooden puppet and a funeral tower called lakian. The next phase of the ceremony was held in this place. The coffin is borne from the house and placed in the lakian. During the day, there were also buffalo matches. They were great matches. In the night, we were feasting, chanting, and dancing.
On the last day, the grandpa’s coffin were lowered from the funeral tower and brought up to the mountain side family graveyard. It was followed by great shouting and excitement from the relatives and the guests. Finally, we installed the wooden puppet on a high balcony where other puppets representing the members of a whole family were already there. The funeral ceremonies made my family and me tired. However, we were grateful because it ran smoothly.

Tongkonan

Wow!!! I'm so wonder about Tongkonan. It's look so weird. Finally, teacher asked me to do homework and don't laze.

Funeral difference between Indonesia and Thailand.

1. funeral in associates to join condolences to the departure of the body. Dress and speak to honor the funeral of the deceased and relatives of the deceased. But Indonesia is different from Thailand. Attendees will show the carnival. Fun to play Musical performances and music or showing revealing sexuality. Using profanity on the booze. I do not mourn or weep composed of deceased relatives.
2. Upon the death of Thailand has organized the funeral three days, seven days, held a prayer service at home or at a certain time. But in Indonesia, it is just like removing the bodies home. But the difference is that there is a morgue set up to 100 days.
3. Thailand when they held a funeral liturgy will be completed three days or seven days, I have to go to the temple and burned. Indonesia was a cremation ceremony sqm as well as faith.
4. At the funeral of the gamelan orchestra will have to feel sad shrill. But Indonesia is a drummer in a funeral hugely publicized and mysterious feel.

News week 5

Munich stations evacuated over 'IS attack threat'

Police in Munich evacuated two major railway stations after an intelligence agency warned Germany of an imminent attack, officials said.

Authorities received information that suicide bombers from so-called Islamic State (IS) could target the main station or Pasing station, Bavaria's interior minister said.
Both stations have since reopened, police tweeted.
Cities across Europe have been on alert for a possible New Year's Eve attack.
"I am happy that nothing has so far happened and I hope it stays that way," said interior minister Joachim Herrmann.
Between five and seven militants were thought to be planning an attack, Munich's police head Hubertus Andra said.

Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office alerted Munich police after receiving the tip off from a "friendly intelligence agency" on New Year's Eve, Mr Herrmann said.
Local media reports say the information had come from French authorities.
The city's police said they had called in reinforcements from southern Bavaria and special police units were already operating in the city.

Belgium arrests

Security concerns had already caused New Year celebrations to be cancelled or limited in other European cities.
The authorities in Brussels called off all official events after three people were detained on Thursday in connection with an alleged New Year's Eve plot.
They are being held for a further 24 hours, prosecutors said. Two other terror suspects were arrested earlier this week.
But the apparent plots to target New Year celebrations in Brussels were not related to the suspected network behind the Paris attacks, the authorities said.

Police seized material during Thursday's raids including computers, phones and materials for playing airsoft - a military simulation game in which players fire replica weapons loaded with plastic pellets.
Separately, Belgian police arrested a 10th suspect over the 13 November attacks in Paris, in which 130 people were killed.
The Belgian national, identified as Ayoub B, was detained on Wednesday during a raid in the Brussels district of Molenbeek. He has been charged with terrorist murder and participation in the activities of a terrorist group.
In Paris, the traditional fireworks display has been called off but thousands of people partied on the Champs Elysees in the biggest public gathering since last month's attacks.

More than 100,000 police were deployed across France.

Extra measures

Security was stepped up in other major European cities too, including Moscow, London and Berlin.
Earlier this week, Austrian police claimed a "friendly intelligence service" had tipped them off that major European capitals were at risk of being attacked over the holiday period.
In Moscow, the fireworks were delayed by five minutes and, for the first time, the police closed Red Square - a traditional place for crowds to gather.
London's Metropolitan Police deployed 3,000 officers in the inner city, including extra armed officers.

In Berlin, officials said the security situation remained unchanged despite the alert in Munich.
Backpacks and fireworks were banned and bags searched on the "party mile" leading up to the Brandenburg Gate.

Ankara 'plot'

On Wednesday, Turkish police arrested two suspected IS members over an alleged plot to attack celebrations in Ankara.
State media said they were planning two separate attacks on crowded areas. Suicide vests and explosives were found during police raids.
